How you can help
Christmas Appeal

We are a small organisation and rely solely on donations which make a huge difference to the lives of homeless and vulnerably housed people at Christmas.

Our Christmas appeal is launched in the autumn each year where we ask for donations of £5 gift vouchers or cards from stores such as Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Argos. The vouchers are then sent directly to our supported homelessness charities and services that are based in the Portsmouth area.

Thanks to your generous donations we raised over £14,000 in 2013 and since the scheme began in 2003 we have raised £110,000 in total for homeless people at Christmas. The scheme has grown year on year and we’re now accepting donations all year round.

The vouchers make a huge difference to the people who receive them and every year we get wonderful feedback about the difference the vouchers make to people who often receive no other gifts at Christmas. Vouchers are often spent on either food or presents for family members.

“I bought a little something for my mum with my voucher, she was very pleased”

“Just amazing that people are helping me and my children when they don’t even know us”
Roberts Centre family

We are now accepting donations for 2016. If you are able to support us, you can send vouchers and gift cards to

Deanery Office
St Faiths Church
Crasswell Street
Portsmouth
PO1 1HT

We ask that you only buy £5 vouchers so we can share them out fairly. You can also write a Christmas card to go with the voucher which personalises the gift. However, please do not give your name and/or address and do not seal the envelope. We will use your donation to buy £5 vouchers which will be distributed to those accessing homelessness services.

If you would prefer to send a cheque, please make it payable to St Mary’s Church PCC.
